It has been far too long between blog posts which means there is far too much to report in one post… Here are some highlights:
*Thuasne has been added to the search engine. Woot woot! We have initially added the Mobiderm and Autofit range but will soon be adding their circular knit Venoflex range.
* The full range of Jobst off the shelf garments will be added in the next week, along with the FarrowWrap range and link to the custom made Elvarex order portal.
* I will be sharing the new functions and motivations for using Lymbase® at a workshop at the Australasian Lymphology Association symposium in Auckland next week.
* Some of the research around developing and implementing the data set in Lymbase® will be shared at the International Lymphoedema Framework conference in Nottingham, UK in June.
* An implementation study has been underway with a trial of Lymbase in Sydney Local health District (with the support of Sydney Health Partners). Not satisfied with just getting feedback from lymphoedema therapists working in the public sector, patients have also been questioned on their experience of receiving information on their progress before and after Lymbase has been used. The feedback from both groups has been very positive and the relevant recommendations made have already been Implemented. With these fixes, and now THREE garment companies in the search engine, Lymbase is ready for the roll out to other hospitals in Sydney for stage 2 of the evaluation.
* And finally… It has been a huge pleasure to be able to use Lymbase® myself, in my clinical role. Having access to graphed size changes has been a great support, both for my own clinical reasoning and as a tool to engage and educate patients. The role of weight change on lymphedema has never been so obvious. The simplified garment prescription and ordering system has also been really helpful. Like in all things change can be hard and there is an adjustment period, particularly when you are first adding patients to the record, but the benefits definitely outweigh any pain. What are you waiting for? 🙂
